Kathy Hodge Kramer – Nurse Entrepreneur’s Exchange Video Interview
Nurse Entrepreneur’s Exchange are interviews covering how nurses become nurse entrepreneurs and how nurses succeed in business. The name is attributed to the grassroots newsletter that evolved into the founding of the NNBA in 1985. The NNBA was and continues as the only professional nursing organization that is dedicated to the independent practice of nursing through entrepreneurial models.
NNBA member interviews are moving accounts of dreams, opportunities, challenges, and triumphs. In a spirit of trust and generosity nurse entrepreneurs shared their experiences with me during these interviews. Nurses will find confidence, motivation, and inspiration in their stories of transforming their careers through entrepreneurship.
Kathy Hodge Kramer, RN, CEO
After 27 years of nursing in critical care, trauma and emergency medicine, Kathy’s interest turned towards aesthetics. In 2010, she switched careers and devoted her time to learning cosmetic injection and laser skills.
In 2016 she cofounded Pacific Northwest Aesthetics Academy as more or less a hobby business. In 2017 she quit her “day job” and devoted all her energies to growing the business. In 2017 she was thrilled to move her primary injectable practice to PNAA, continuing to offer her services to her clients and offering mentorship and job shadow opportunities to graduates of PNAA Courses. Today she remains the CEO of the company with five full-time employees and a team of thirteen contract trainers.
Kathy loves working in the facial cosmetic and aesthetic field, “Because it offers the client such a broad range of options from injectables, to laser treatments, to surgery. I love working with clients to help them decide what combination of treatments will give them natural looking results and helping them develop a long-range treatment plan to maintain those results. Teaching has become my most recent passion, from basic injectables to advanced techniques, “I’m committed to turning out highly skilled injectors and providing mentorship to all graduates of our programs. “
Kathy has raised three adult sons, has three adult stepchildren and now shares five grandchildren with another on the way in June with her husband, Dave. In her off time, Kathy enjoys painting with acrylics and creating art, snowboarding, hiking and traveling with Dave and her pooch, Josephine. She is also a RYT 200 certified yoga teacher.
