Overview:
This workshop will look at the emerging roles of case management and patient advocacy for nurse entrepreneurs. We will look at the opportunities and the challenges nurses face when trying to break into these areas and through discussion how to break down barriers and develop a business plan for success.
Those who attend will understand the opportunities and the competencies needed to move into these dynamic roles. We will discuss how to break into independent practice and establish a profitable business.
During this pre-conference seminar, you will learn:
- Know the differences between patient advocacy and case management
- Understand the skills and competencies needed to be successful
- Learn how to reach and maintain prospective clients
About Anne and Deanna:
Anne is a leader in the practice of case management and patient advocacy. She is a Past President of the Case Management Society of America and was awarded the organizations Life Time Achievement Award in 2015. Anne was part of the founding board to develop the first national certification in the area of patient advocacy which will begin March 2018. Anne is well respected in both fields and can share information that will assist and empower nurses considering these areas as career moves. Anne is a healthcare leader with over 40 years of experience as a critical care nurse, case manager, professional patient advocate, educator, editor in chief and most recently a patient. Anne has lectured nationally and internationally on case management, patient advocacy, and care coordination.
Deanna is an RN, Certified Case Manager, Author, Publisher, and Entrepreneur. She has been an RN since 1994 and a Nurse Case Manager since 2011. In addition to her complex and transplant case management experience, she has worked in a variety of clinical settings including, Med Surg, Dialysis, Oncology, Hospice, SICU, LDRP, L&D and Ambulatory Care. She has also worked as a travel nurse, agency nurse, and patient service representative.
As founder and CEO of The Stay At Home Nurse, LLC and co-founder of Blue Bayou Press, Deanna has impacted thousands of nurses and healthcare providers with her companies’ products and resources. She is the author of CCM Certification Made Easy: Your Guide to Passing the Certified Case Manager Exam which is now in its second edition. She has also created online courses and other resources for nurses & case managers.
