In the wake of so many data breaches, I want to pass along this important nurses in business tip – Marketing gurus will tell you that social media is a critical component of business marketing. While I believe social media is important, you should not be using social media as a substitute for your own website. Remember, you do not own the social media platforms and you do not own the social media contacts. Engaging with contacts is great but your focus should be on driving them to your own website, so you can give them something of value when you receive their contact information. Then, independent from a social media platform, you have the ability to reach out to them. Social media platforms can change the rules at any time; it’s better to be secure in knowing you have your own customer information for follow-up.
