NNBA Nurse Entrepreneur News – 10/01/2019

In the generation that has passed, since the National Nurses in Business Association was founded, the ranks of nurse entrepreneurs has increased substantially. The NNBA is the forerunner of the nurse entrepreneur movement, and that is a result of the active participation and contributions of its richly resourced membership. We are nurses, business leaders, mentors, and exemplars; an organization of nurses helping nurses succeed in business. This was exemplified this past weekend at the NNBA Nurse Entrepreneurship & Career Alternatives Conference in Las Vegas!

Strategies, practical advice, how-tos, blueprints (hacks), examples, leadership, coaching, mentorship and connections, made in networking sessions were evidenced throughout the conference. The NNBA conference had it all! Hundreds of nurses from places all around the United States, South Africa, Canada, and Mexico! The content of this year’s conference provided massive value and many sessions were sold out. Our orientation session for first time conference attendees was so popular, there was standing room only!

Renee Thompson was our masterful emcee in addition to being a speaker in a breakout session titled, Turn Your 60- Minute Presentation Into a 6 Figure Business. When Renee asked the audience who would be back next year, over three fourths of the nurses stood up to make it clear they would not miss NNBA 2020’s conference. From Dr. Scharmaine Lawson’s motivational, authentic, and totally inspiring keynote address, to Akeem Watson winning the Grand Prize at the end of our program, the excitement was palpable.

Speaking of winners, all the nurses that entered our 5th NNBA Shark Tank Competition did a wonderful job of pitching the judges. Rhonda Adams pitched WatchGuard, Terra Goodrich pitched Transitional Cardiac Care, LLC, Heather Wilson pitched Everyday Divinity, LLC and Susan Davis pitched CodePRep. The judges were Donna Cardillo, Louise Jakubik, and Scharmaine Lawson. They said it was extremely difficult to pick a winner because, every nurse was so good. In fact, when the scoring was calculated, they were within tenths of each other.

Our 2019 NNBA Shark Tank Winner was Terra Goodrich. After all the pictures are in, I will write a separate article on the terrific competition and innovative nurses in this year’s program.

This is just a reminder that if you attended the conference and want CEs, visit the conference page, https://nnbanow.com/nnba-conference-2019/ and find the links near the top. Also, if you missed Pat Iyer MSN RN LNCC session on authoring a book, we have an announcement. Pat is an author, editor, ghostwriter and nurse who has written 48 books. She is known for her expert and passionate commitment to helping others write their books, Pat will present Start Your Book: Master the First Critical Steps exclusively to NNBA nurses. Register for this free live program at this link: http://patiyer.com/nnbawebinar. Date: October 9 and Time 3 PM Eastern, 2 PM Central, 1 PM Mountain, 12 PM Pacific.

Nurses looking for a change, desiring more freedom, and becoming their own boss have chosen to advance their careers by attending this conference. When I receive the rest of the pictures I will post them out on the NNBAnow.com website and on our NNBAnow Facebook page so be sure to follow us so you don’t miss them.

Leading the National Nurses in Business Association is an honor. I know firsthand what nurses are experiencing at the different junctures in their nursing journey. We provide the information and business education to empower nurses at the different stages of their careers. To achieve this level of excellence, it is a joint effort by the staff at the NNBA and the input from our Advisory Board. Donna Cardillo, Louise Jakubik, Renee Thompson, Keith Carlson, Stella Nsong, and Lou Podlesni. They are tremendous resources to the NNBA.

These were some of the comments nurses made at the conference:

“I want to thank you. I came to my first NNBA conference three years ago and it changed my life. The connections that I was put in touch with have been a part of my life and it only gets better each year. The nurses I’ve met have become like family and the business skills I have learned are benefiting all areas of my career.”

“I have never been to such a friendly and supportive conference where it is evident that everyone there is interested in helping you be successful.”

“Wow! What an amazing event, I have never been to an event with such welcoming and wonderful attendees and staff. You all are truly a step above. Thank you!”

“Spending time with speakers off stage was incredible. They were all accessible and approachable so we felt their desire for us to succeed with our ideas.”

“Learning about starting and growing a successful healthcare business that I own says it all!!!”

“I learned that “I can have fear but I can do it anyway” was a revelation. When speakers said some of what they each experienced and how they handled it, was priceless to me.”

“I have met great people with great ideas and have learned of so many great coaching services and resources that I can move forward!”

“Networking with this family of NNBA is wonderful. I’m a first time member and attendee and I felt welcomed and as a newbie see all the resources I need. I now believe that nurses can do anything!”

“Each person was so welcoming and so much valuable information to share. I have never been to a conference where people were so friendly and willing to help.”

“I have been experiencing “burnout” and I needed a reboot. I have met such kind and helpful people. The conference was great!”

“I am excited to start my business. All the sessions were valuable but the biggest thing for me was the generosity of the NNBA members.”

“The conference presentations and the networking were beyond my expectations. I didn’t want to take a bathroom break because I didn’t want to miss anything!”

“Everyone I was meeting was exciting and encouraging, even all the exhibitors. Love the vibe!”

When I was asked what I thought would make this conference more meaningful, I said “Nothing, this conference was phenomenal!”

“I have over 21 pages of notes! The conference exceeded my expectations!”

“The depth of experience, wisdom and practical knowledge is off the charts at this conference.”

“All the information presented was valuable but the enthusiasm and empowering delivery was priceless.”

“It’s always fun to reconnect with past attendees. My favorite conference and I am always so impressed with the caliber of speakers, nurses and the NNBA staff!”

“I gained new business insights, networking and connections. I’ll be back!”

“I have been dreaming of becoming an entrepreneur. Now my dream is going to be a reality!”

“NNBA Nurses in Business was great. Learned a lot, and met amazing nurses who are changing our profession! Mind blown! Thank you!”

“Excellent opportunity! I’ll definitely be back!”

“I am inspired by the positivity, optimism, diversity, and excellence of the nurse attendees and speakers at NNBA’s conference. This conference is unique, nothing else out there can compare.”
