Nurses Going for the Gold
“Success comes from knowing you did your best to become the best you are capable of being.” – John Wooden, ESPN ranked Greatest Coach of All Time
I hope everyone enjoyed the Summer Olympic Games as much as I have the past couple of weeks. Looking at your Facebook posts, it appears you have! Amazing to see so much talent, skill, strength and heart, in all the athletes from around the world. And I loved learning about them on a more personal level as I listened to many of their stories. It really had me thinking about the making of a champion. The support necessary from family, friends, role models and mentors in addition to the money spent with coaches, uniforms, equipment, sponsors and travel! Practice, practice and more practice. So much goes into the achievement of excellence. So much goes into going for the gold!
I see the same things in Nurses whether they are in the clinical setting or in a non-traditional setting. I love talking with so many of you and hearing your stories. You are Nurses that have worked hard at developing your skills and then leverage your knowledge for greater impact in the world. Nurses that give their best every day, no matter what. Nurses that know to be successful and to be the best requires investing in yourself, your education and your support team. There are many Nurse Champions out there, Nurses that are tremendous role models, and Nurses that understand the need to appreciate, value and mentor next generation of nurses.
The NNBA is fortunate in its membership to have so many Nurse Champions. Nurses can learn more about career alternatives and the role of entrepreneurship at #NNBA2016 Annual Educational Conference. Join your colleagues from all over the country this October 14-16 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Nationally acclaimed speakers will provide you the tools and information you need to start your own business or make your current business more successful. Plus this conference provides up to 13 hours of continuing education. At networking luncheons and receptions you will meet new colleagues, make business contacts and share ideas in an informal, relaxed and fun setting. There are no Olympics for Nurses however this conference is a golden opportunity and I hope to see many nurses going for the gold!
Since 1985 the National Nurses in Business Association (NNBA) is dedicated to advancing and promoting Nurses in Business, Nurse Entrepreneurs and Intrapreneurs.
